Blended Family Wedding Bliss
From the moment I met Olivia and Morne, I adored them and their wonderful tribe of children. Both had their own … and together they have little Blake. This wedding was all about family and symbolised not only the love of Morne and Olivia … but also celebrated the unity of this divine family.
At the gorgeous venue of The Riverhead on what started out as a rainy day (the sun came out for the photos which were absolutely gorgeous) the ceremony we’d worked so hard to get absolutely right for them … was just perfect.
Deb, the wedding coordinator for The Riverhead absolutely rocked it and left no stone unturned for Olivia and Morne and was so super easy to coordinate with for bridal party arrival … highly recommend! And a great venue for children … loads of space and well fenced to keep enthusiastic little explorers safe!
All four children were part of the bridal party and it was very important to Olivia and Morne that they played a part in and felt part of the ceremony.
One of my favourite moments was when little Blake decided during the vows of his parents that it was only fair that he got to have his turn with the microphone. So his little ‘hi’ over the microphone in the middle of his parents vows to each other was a crowd hit!
After the signing of the marriage licenses … the family gathered to take part in a sand ceremony. There was different coloured sand for each member to pour into a frame that will become a piece of wall art and unbeknownst to Olivia … Morne had contacted me the night before saying the kids each had something to say about how they felt about the family which I read out for each of them as they poured their sand … it was a beautiful surprise for Olivia and so heartwarming to hear the words of each individual child about the people closest to them.
The family also chose a promise to make to each other … it had to be something pretty simple that little Blake could also understand and participate in … and it was a gorgeous moment!
Do you all promise, to try your very best every day to be the best person you can be for your family?
Family: We do
There were so many things to love about this family wedding … they had a magician for the kids during the cocktail hour which I thought was an absolutely GENIUS idea to keep children entertained and a great tip for other people who have children at weddings!
Plus they had a live band – Eugene and The Five ‘O’ Clock Shadow band which is always a winner for walking down the aisle … songs are always timed just right and end just at the perfect time as only a live musician can do… and apparently they played the chicken dance for the kids later on! Love a band that reads the room!
The connection that Olivia and Morne share is absolutely beautiful … you just have to look at these gorgeous photos by Gina Brumby from Evermore Photography (who was also an absolute dream to work with!) to see the absolute love between the two of them and their family photos … just bliss.
Olivia and Morne got their special family wedding day so right.
It was an absolute joy to share their bliss with them.
